Apa Ada Dengan Rina The Movies

AFTER months of shooting its feature film, Regalblue Productions held a media and potential sponsors exclusive preview yesterday for Brunei's very first full-length movie to be shown in cinemas, "Ada Apa Dengan Rina" (What Is It About Rina).

The film is a comedy movie featuring slapstick and satire jokes directed by Harlif Hj Mohamad and Farid Azlan Ghani, that works amongst the locals and hopefully the international audience.

"Ada Apa Dengan Rina", produced by Nurain Abdullah, has also been invited to join the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA) which will be held in Kuching, Sarawak, from March 28 to 30, 2013.

This movie will be in Malay and the dialect is used by Bruneians everyday. This will be the first time such dialect will be played on big cinema screens and Regalblue is hoping to reach out to the local community with this language.

The premier for "Ada Apa Dengan Rina" will be held on February 17 and public screening will start from February 23 onwards.

The movie starts with the introduction of a handsome man named Hakim, played by Syukri Mahari, who is in his 30s and has a high paying job but has not found love.

Through his housemate, Faisal, played by Tauffek Ilyas, Hakim is introduced to a theory to find the right person for him which says that the right person for Hakim is a girl named Rina.

After being introduced to this theory, Hakim finds himself introduced to the new Marketing Manager for the company he works in named Rina, played by Dk Moniri Pg Mohiddin. A beautiful, hardworking and smart woman who mesmerises everyone at work including Hakim.

Rina and Hakim become good friends and spend a lot of time together for a big project the company acquired. Because of their chemistry, Hakim is pressured to marry Rina by his mother and friends.

Meanwhile, Hakim's housemate Faisal, falls in love with a young divorcee named Tini who manages her own restaurant. In his mission to win Tini's heart, a man named Elvis comes into the picture and both of them competes in a dangdut singing competition reality show.

Because of the pressure Hakim's family and friends gave him, he became dedicated and full-hearted in proposing a marriage to Rina.

Will she say "Yes"? That is something that you need to find out yourself. So keep an eyes out for when this film will be played in Brunei and support the local entertainment industry.

Present during the exclusive preview were representatives from Pelangi FM; DJ Farid and DJ Alif, from BIG Magazine and social medias.

DJ Farid said, "It has a very interesting story line for a first Bruneian movie. It contains a lot of jokes that we all can relate to which works very well."

DJ Alif also commented on the movie, he explained that it is very interesting and "it is a must-watch and one important fact is that it is in our own dialect so it is easy to understand".

Marul of Geek In White (www.geekinwhite.com) posted on Facebook, "In all honesty, this is quite a good effort and like @maurina said, there are quite a number of LOL moments... The ending might not be popular with the audience, but obviously theres a reason for it."

DJ Nadzri of Kristal FM said that it is quite interesting and "definitely something that other local (film) producers can branch off from. Planning is one thing and doing it is another".

This film also features other local actors like Hj Md Firdaus Hj Salleh and Norharizah Hj Sisi. Special appearances by local artists Hans Anwar, Zul Faden and Lo Ryder can also be seen in this movie.
